Jan: There's only one H in the fifth round, and I don't think that TITERED is valid (I'll check when I get home). Were you thinking of TITTERED? (I'll try to remember to check up on HUNCHER for future reference.)

Well done to Jan and Victor on getting to 832 -- it seemed depressingly clear in hindsight, but at the time I got somewhat lost and ended up one away (the same way as Mike, I believe, although my notes are at home).
As an aside, Sam has been working his way through the earlier new games, if people want to re-read the comments to see how he has fared.

No, I was definitely thinking about TITER - the US spelling of TITRE!, and just put an ED on the end. But I guess the verb is TITRATED not TITERED/TITRED. TITER is in the dictionary as a noun though.
Will look up what Sam has been doing.

The longer breakdown:
Round 1: C S N E O E R N A
I had CONES, CENSOR, SCANNER, and RESONANCE.
There are no eights -- ONSCREEN would be OK for some sources but not the Macquarie -- and plenty of sevens.
Round 2: T D C I U I D L P
Bleah, what a mix. I was thinking a final vowel could have freed this up, but it would have been another I so no harm done. I was actually hoping for a final R for DRUIDIC at the time. As it was, I had DUCT and LUCID.
Five is the best to be done; some of the common alternatives are CUPID, TULIP, LICIT, and LIPID.
Round 3: Target 567 from 50 4 8 10 5 3
Getting to 500, 550, or 600 is easy, but the offsets were awkward. I looked instead at 10*57 - 3 and quickly found 567 = (50 + 4 + 3)*10 - (8 - 5). I also noted the factorisation 7*81 = 7*9*9 = 9*63, and so found the alternative 567 = (50 + 8 + 5)*(10 - (4 - 3)).
Round 4: I D E E E T R T K
I had DIET, TIRED, was not sure about KITTED, and TEETER. The concern with KITTED was that it might be only KITTED OUT, but the Macquarie explicitly lists KIT as a verb in isolation.
There's some other sixes, with REEKED being perhaps the most common.
Round 5: C F H R A O E N U
I had ARCH, REACH, ANCHOR / ARCHON, and CONFER. After time I added CORNEA and then saw FURNACE for seven.
That is the only seven, but there is an eight: FAROUCHE ("fierce").
Round 6: Target 883 from 100 3 7 8 2 5
Descent from 900 seemed awkward, but 880 was close... that gave me the solution 883 = 8*(100 + 2*5) + 3. Going down from 888 was also feasible: 883 = 8*(100 + 2*7 - 3) - 5.
Round 7: T N S A A I O T G
That G turned a less promising mix into something helpful. I had TANS, STAIN, and TOASTING. For a moment I thought that STAGNATION was there, but that uses an extra N. I also found TANGOIST as another eight, although I was not certain about it (checking reveals that it is acceptable).
Round 8: Target 832 from 50 10 10 5 7 8
This time I got lost in factorisations, noting that the target was 8*104 = 8*8*13 and trying to do something with that. I had a fallback one away 833 = 8*(10*10 + 5) - 7, and then thought I had found a solution late in the piece but it used three tens. After time I found 832 = (50 + 10 + 10)*(7 + 5) - 8.
Most of you pointed out the standard method works handily here with 832 = (10 + 7)*50 - 10 - 8. I just didn't look for it, alas.
Round 9: NICE SOULS
I looked at -ION before -IOUS and so quickly found SECLUSION.
