Nothing like starting a game with two 5's.
GATOR and wondered about RIGHTO (it was in my second edition)
PENCE
4*(75+5)-6/6=319
HOLIER
INCURS
7*(75+4-1)=546 (1 off)
STOOPS
9*50+100+75/25+5=558 (went over time)
DEPLOYING (41s)
1. gamble with 'aright'
2. pence
3. 4x(75+6)-5=319
4. homelier
5. courses
6. 7x(75+4)-6=547
7. coasts
8. 5x100+50+9=559 (1 off) and out of time with 9x50+100+5+75/25=558
9. x
Thanks for the feedback on 'coastland', Geoff.
ARIGHT was in my second edition so I think your gamble paid off Louise. Loved HOMELIER as well.
Thanks for checking Mike. This conundrum had me beat, looked for a word ending "ing" "ly" "ed" and when I saw your DEPLOYING I kicked myself!
I was a bit too slow to see INSOURCES in round 5, alas.
Mike: RIGHTO is in the fifth edition also, so would get the nod. Well done on solving the conundrum (even after time) -- I missed it.
Louise: As Mike said, ARIGHT is fine. HOMELIER is another excellent find.
1. RATIO. These days I don't bother looking at the letters until they are all ready, this probably cost me TROIKA.
2. PIECE. *sigh*
3. 319 = (75+6)*4 - 5
4. MORSEL
5. COINSURES. Started with SOURCES, didn't realise INSOURCES was valid.
6. 547 = (75+4)*7 - 6
7. COASTS
8. 558 = 9*50 + 100 + 5 + 75/25
9. DEPLOYING - 1.7s
