New game 465 is now available.
Round 1: D I F O X E F A T
My selection: AFFIXED
Round 2: M I S O A T L R E
I was a little tempted by MORTALISE, but was right to avoid it. No full monty on offer here.
My selection: MORALISE
Round 3: Target 467 from 25 100 8 10 1 1
My selection: 467 = (10 + 8)*(25 + 1) - 1
Round 4: A N B I C S M R A
My selection: MANIACS
Best: CARABINS
Round 5: E N S I O A C T L
I was too slow here, and found COASTLINE a little after time. The other nine is SECTIONAL.
My selection: CANOEIST
Best: COASTLINE
Round 6: Target 565 from 75 100 5 8 2 7
My selection: 565 = 8*(75 - 5) + 7 - 2
Round 7: U O R C A H N M K
My selection: MONARCH
Round 8: Target 848 from 50 100 75 7 7 5
My selection: 848 = 7*(75 + 50) - 100/5 - 7
Round 9: LEGEND TOM
My selection: [N/A -- conunundrum chosen explicitly]
Best: LODGEMENT

4. BARMAN
5. SECTIONAL

Liked TOFFIED, Mike.
Some good answers above. Fun rounds today.
1. OXIDATE. Couldn't see anything else better than a 5.
2. MORALISE/MORALIST. If there's a nine here, I couldn't find/recall it.
3. 467 = (25+1)*(10+8) - 1
4. x CAMBRIANS. Optimistic, only capital form. Otherwise: MANIACS
5. COASTLINE. I had a mnemonic for this! Now it doesn't feel like misspent time...
6. 565 = 5*100 + 75 - 8 - 2
7. ANCHOR
8. one off: 849 = 50/5*75 + 100 - 7/7
9. LODGEMENT - 9.5s. Took a few seconds of playing with the -MENT.
No joy with TOFFIED, Mike -- the Macquarie only lists TOFFEE (with variant spelling TOFFY) as a noun, not a verb. RUCKMAN is very good!
Louise: Nice work to get the full monty in round five. LOAMIEST* sneaks in under the revised rules, but would not be valid under the show's rules.
Sam: Bold try with CAMBRIANS! And what is the mnemonic for COASTLINE?
CANOEIST + L.
The first name that I associate with L, paddling in a canoe towards a coastline.
Nice one, Sam. :)
