NG 526

New game 526 is now available.

Round 1: R E A L C T U K I

My selection: TACKIER
Best: RETICULA

Round 2: N A E R O I G P T

My selection: OPERATING

Round 3: Target 237 from 50 75 8 3 5 8

After time I found the rather simpler 237 = 5*50 - 8 - 8 + 3.

My selection: 237 = 3*(75 + 8/(50/5 - 8))

Round 4: W E N E S A U T L

My selection: SULTAN
Best: WALNUTS

Round 5: O R P U I M S R A

My selection: ARMOURS

Round 6: Target 802 from 75 50 100 9 8 7

My selection: 802 = 8*100 + 9 - 7

Round 7: N E C H S A O O F

My selection: NACHOS

Round 8: Target 559 from 100 75 4 1 8 10

My selection: 559 = 8*75 - 4*10 - 1

Round 9: IOTA CHIPS

My selection: [N/A -- conundrum chosen explicitly]
Best: PISTACHIO

1. ARTICLE
2. OPERATING
3. 237 = (75 + 5 - 8/8)*3
4. WEASEL
5. ARMOURS
6. 802 = 8*100 + 9 - 7
7. CHOOSE
8. one off: 560 = (75-4-1)*8. A frustrating one.
9. PISTACHIO - 1.0s. Quite quick (if I say so myself), the IO/TACH must have helped.

Congratulations to both of you on quick conundrum solutions!

Mike: The issue of pluralisation is one that continues to vex me. In practice, I allow almost anything that corresponds to a physical object to be pluralised, since there are always variations and so one might refer to different "opiums". I'm not in love with the policy, but the precedent was set on the show a long time ago when chemical elements were allowed to be pluralised (presumably due to the existence of isotopes).

Sam: I like WEASEL! And you were close in round 8, just needed to untweak for a change.
