NG 569

New game 569 is now available.

Round 1: N L I S A T O A F

My selection: TALIONS
Best: FANTAILS

Round 2: T T U H M R O E N

My selection: TORMENT

Round 3: Target 607 from 25 6 1 3 4 10

My selection: 607 = 6*4*25 + 10 - 3

Round 4: S U B P I A E L R

My selection: UPRAISE
Best: SPIRULAE

Round 5: T O S C W O E N R

My selection: CORONETS

Round 6: Target 457 from 50 25 8 1 2 9

I was so used to making 450 as 6*75 that it took me quite a while to spot 9*50.  I almost failed to solve this one!

My selection: 457 = 9*50 + 8 - 1

Round 7: A T C L E E D H R

For a moment I thought that CATHEDRAL was there, but the vowels are wrong.  A shame.

My selection: CHELATED

Round 8: Target 442 from 75 10 2 6 9 6

My selection: 442 = 6*75 - (10 - 2)

Round 9: BUTTER JIG

My selection: [N/A -- conundrum chosen explicitly]
Best: JITTERBUG

8. 6x75-10+2=442
9. JITTERBUG (5s)

Thanks for the feedback on PRESALE, Geoff. Much easier numbers tonight than last game, and conundrum too!

Good game Louise! Hadn't heard of FLATIONS before.

FLOATS
MOTHER
x- used 6 twice
BAILERS
COSTER
Louise's way
CLEARED
6*75-6-2=442
JITTERBUG (5s). My fastest time I think, although it wasn't difficult.

Thanks Mike - FLATIONS was a risk! And me too, I almost couldn't believe my eyes when jitterbug jumped out so easily!

CORONETS was excellent. Is FLATION/S definitely listed in the Macq?

1. LATIONS
2. TORMENT
3. 607 = (6*25+1)*4 + 3
4. BURIALS
5. SCOOTER
6. 457 = (50-2)*9 + 25. Another modulo 25 example, Mike, though 50*9+8-1 is simpler.
7. CHELATED
8. 442 = 6*75 - 6 - 2
9. JITTERBUG - 1.0s. Only had to swap a pair of two-letter blocks here.

Actually Sam, I checked my second edition and I could not find it in that. FLATIRON was the closest. Perhaps the current one? Re the conundrum, even when I see it, sadly it takes me a while to register. And love CHELATED, a word I have seen around the traps. But it's words like BURIALS that impress me that don't have the usual prefixes and suffixes.

I'm afraid it's no go on FLATIONS. I wondered about AFLATIONS, but again no joy there.

And I figured there was nothing wrong with the occasional easier conundrum. *chuckles*
