Corrigenda: Book 1 (the blue book)

Since the first fifty episodes are out of the way, I can cross-check them against the published book.  That's the blue book, since they did not start numbering them until book 5.  The majority of issues are in the solutions; although there are a few issues which should be corrected with the rounds, only one of them would stop one playing through accurately (although two more do affect the word mixes).

I'll note that they use the terms 'round' and 'game' with reversed meanings compared to how I generally use them.  That is, they regard an episode as a round (whereas I would call it a game) and an individual scoring section within the episode as a game (whereas I would call it a round).  I will try to be consistent with their usage rather than mine; apologies in advance if I slip up, though.

One notable difference between the books and the show is that for numbers games the books generally presents the numbers in the opposite order (small numbers on the left, large numbers on the right).  Consequently, when I mention cases below of this order being reversed I am stating that the book is displaying the numbers in the same order in which they appeared on the show; this warrants correction since it is not consistent with the general policy of the books.


Front Matter

Pg 6	In section "THE LETTER GAMES", the second line begins "consisting of three vowels and four consonants".  It should read "consisting of at least three vowels and four consonants".
	In the second line of the second paragraph of that section, the comma should appear before "then", not after it.
	In the section "Scoring", the last word of the third line should be "word", not "words".

Rounds

Rd 2 pg 13	The conundrum should be AVERSEPOD.
Rd 3 pg 14	Word Mix 1 has an extra column of spaces that should be removed.
pg 15	Word Mix 2 has an extra column of spaces that should be removed.
Rd 4 pg 16	Word Mix 1 has an extra column of spaces that should be removed.
Rd 14 pgs 36,37	The order of the numbers in the numbers games is reversed.
Rd 17 pg 43	Game 8 should have the numbers 10 10 50 100 25 75 and target 883.
Rd 19 pg 47	The clue for Word Mix 2 should read "An unintentional calamity".
Rd 28 pg 65	In the clue for Word Mix 2, "Golem" should be "Gollum".

Rd 44 pg 96	In Game 1, the letters should be presented in the order RIAHPOIST.
Rd 47 pg 103	In the clue for Word Mix 2, "its" should be "it's".
Rd 49 pg 106	The letters for Word Mix 1 should be PAYSMYTH.

Solutions

Rd 1 pg 111	In Game 5, OBTUSE should be listed as a master solution, not a contestant one.
Rd 2 pg 112	In Game 7, HOUND should listed as a contestant solution, not a master one.
	The Conundrum should be listed as AVERSEPOD.
Rd 4 pg 114	In Game 6, the first solution should have (10 ÷ 5), not (10 ÷ 2).
	In game 7, the contestant solution was HATE, not THE.
Rd 5 pg 115	In Game 1, OPALISED is erroneously listed as a master solution. The only master solution aired was JALOPIES, and indeed OPALISED is not valid.
	In Game 2, the master solution HORSEMAN should be HORSEMEN.
	In Game 3, the second use of (50 ÷ 5) should simply be 10, since it was made already in the first step.
	In Game 5, the other contestant solution of WIZENS is missing.
Rd 9 pg 119	In Word Mix 1, the word "Building" should not be capitalised.
Rd 10 pg 120	In Game 5, the contestant solution FOUR should be FORE.
Rd 11 pg 121	In Game 5, the contestant solutions should be listed as invalid.
Rd 17 pg 127	In Game 7, the contestant solution CHEAP should be CHEEP.

	In Word Mix 2, "golem" should be "Gollum".
Rd 29 pg 139	In Game 7, the contestant and master solutions of CONGEALED should each be CONGEALS.
Rd 31 pg 141	In Game 1, the master solution ABRADE should be UPBRAID.
	In Game 5, the contestant solutions should be listed as "Invalid solutions".
Rd 33 pg 143	In Game 8, the last line of the second numbers solution is incorrect. It should be replaced by two lines: "8 × (5 - 3) = 16" and "300 + 16 = 316".
Rd 36 pg 146	In Game 7, the master solution of FIORDS should be FJORDS.
Rd 38 pg 148	In Game 1, the master solutions should include ROUGHED.
Rd 39 pg 149	In Game 6, the second number solution reads in part "5 ÷ (8 ÷ 4) = 25" which should be "50 ÷ (8 ÷ 4) = 25".
Rd 41 pg 151	In Game 5, the master solution is given as OUTLAND. It is very likely that David found this, but it did not make it to air.
Rd 43 pg 153	In Game 6, the last line of the solution should read "285 + 2 + 100 = 387.
Rd 44 pg 154	In Game 2, CRADLER should be included in the master solutions.
	In Game 4, PUMICES should be included in the master solutions.
Rd 47 pg 157	In Game 7, the master solution of LITAGATED should be LIGATED.
Rd 49 pg 159	In Word Mix 1, "Stone's" should be "Stones".
